This Privacy Policy describes how Mhauz (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Mhauz platform (“Platform”).

Information you provide directly

Account information: Name, email address, username, and password when you register
Listing content: Vehicle details, photos, videos, price, location, and any other information you include in a listing
Identity verification: Government-issued ID documents submitted for seller verification (processed and stored by Stripe Identity — we do not store raw ID document images)
Communications: Messages you send to other users through the Platform
Payment information: Billing details processed by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers

Information collected automatically

Usage data: Pages visited, searches performed, listings viewed, and actions taken on the Platform
Device information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Operate and improve the Platform
Authenticate your account and maintain security
Display your listings to other users
Facilitate messaging between buyers and sellers
Process payments and verify identity for applicable listing tiers
Send transactional emails (listing confirmations, message notifications, expiry reminders)
Investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in these circumstances:

With other users: Your username, listing details, and messages are visible to the users you interact with. Your full name and contact details are not publicly displayed on listings.
With service providers: We share data with Supabase (database and storage), Stripe (payments and identity verification), and email delivery providers, strictly to operate the Platform
For legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Mhauz, our users, or the public
In a business transfer: If Mhauz is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Listing data is retained for 12 months after a listing expires or is marked sold, after which it is archived. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@mhauz.com. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security on our database, and third-party identity verification. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to report any suspected security issues to privacy@mhauz.com.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Data portability
